Department of Biostatistics

Department of Biostatistics is one of the oldest disciplines to award master’s degree in the field of biostatistics in our country, Iran, with a long records of excellence in methodology and collaborative research. With generations of relentless efforts, the department has become a provincially recognized teaching departments with high research ability and good teaching outcome.

Methodologic interests of the faculty include, but are not limited to, survival analysis, Bayesian methods, causal inference, clinical trial design, longitudinal data analysis, modeling and analysis of data derived from biological and social networks, nonparametric and semiparametric modeling, smoothing techniques and analysis of large-scale datasets.

Research teams are well-organized, have strong collaborative relationships with staff of public health and preventive medicine as well as the other fields of medical sciences. They are also an important contributor to the national and international research programs. In addition, the department provides a variety of consulting services to assist researchers and students in completing their studies. The services include advice on study design and analysis, data management, and programming.
