Occupational Health Research Center (OHRC)
The Occupational Health Research Center (OHRC) was established in 2008 in the Iran University of Medical Sciences as the first center in IRAN in the field of occupational hygiene and safety engineering. OHRC is devoted to discovering and disseminating the ways to protect human health from hazards attributable to the working environment, through interdisciplinary research, education and services.
To provide leadership in large-scale, work-related accident, injury, illness, and fatality reduction in the national level and beyond. Further, OHRC seeks to design, develop, implement, and translate innovative, integrated, and multidisciplinary projects for significant safety and health improvements in the occupational domain.
OHRC serves as the only center for occupational safety and health research at Iran University of Medical Sciences and with diverse external collaborators. OHRC is a collection of individuals, resources, and knowledge, wherein faculty, students, partners, and external stakeholders congregate, collaborate, innovate, and disseminate to benefit the safety and health of workers in Iran. Additionally, the main goal of OHRC internationally is to be as the WHO Collaborating Centre for Occupational Health in the Eastern Mediterranean Region (EMR) to support the World Health Organization (WHO) in implementing its plans of action in the area of occupational safety and health in workplaces.
Some of the scientific and research achievements of OHRC are:
1- Organizing and Implementation of more than 100 research projects in all areas of occupational health (occupational health, safety, ergonomics, HSE and health promotion in the workplace) with the participation of academia, industry and various organizations
2- PhD by research teaching and training course
3- Publication of "Iran Occupational Health" journal indexed in Scopus in order to prevent, maintain and improve the physical, mental and social health of the country's human capital
4- Holding the National Occupational Health and Safety Forum (2001), International Safe Community seminar in Tehran (2009), First National Health Assembly in Iran, (2017).
